Botox is the tradename for the Botulinum toxin type A which is derived from a microbe. It’s use in cosmetic medicine is FDA approved and it’s mainly used as a muscle relaxant for the treatment of wrinkles. Apart from being used to treat fine lines and wrinkles, it’s also used to treat migraines and excessive sweating. It also reduces and delays the appearance of new lines by relaxing the facial muscles. The optimum results are seen between 1014 days of treatment and can last between 3 to 4 months.


1Is it painful?
A very fine needle is used for the procedure and most people do not describe the procedure as painful and there is no need to use any local anaesthetic.
2Can all wrinkles be treated?
No, it’s not effective on static lines i.e. the lines present without expression.
3What is the duration of treatment?
The treatment usually lasts 15-20 minutes.
4What are the side effects?
Common side effects include temporary bruising, localised slight redness of the skin and mild swelling. Sometimes it can cause a droopy eyebrow if the injectible spreads from the treatment area, but the chances of this can be reduced if instructions are followed properly.
5When can I apply makeup?
The area of treatment should be free of any makeup and we would advise you not to apply any makeup for 12 hours following the treatment.
6Any aftercare instructions?
We would advise to avoid exposure to excess of temperature, lying down, leaning over and any vigorous exercising for atleast 6 hours after the treatment.
